About Tuten Penland
Johnny Penland and his father, Grover Penland, began Penland's Used Furniture in the late 1950's. They had two stores, one on Haywood Road, and the warehouse on Craven Street, where the auction was located. In 1985, Grover and his wife Willie retired, and Johnny and his wife, Ann, began the auction. In 1988, their son-in-law, Tommy Tuten joined them. In 2002, Johnny & Ann officially retired and Tommy & Beth assumed ownership. We are a family run business and we take pride in maintaining a business of high integrity and long standing relationships with our customers and employees.
We are now in our new building in the beautiful Swannanoa Valley! We are located just off of I-40, Exit 59, the Swannanoa exit. From I-40 West, Exit 59, turn left, we are the second building on the rigfht. From I-40 East, Exit 59, turn right, we are the second building on the right. We will always remember the Craven Street building with fond memories, but we are looking forward to making many new memories in the new building.
